Fate played a cruel hand in taking her life away aged just 19. She had fallen from the window of her fifth floor at Tulsi apartments in Versova on 6 April around midnight.

There were many rumours surrounding her accidental death, which will remain a mystery forever. She was cremated on 7 April dressed in bridal finery.

Divya had achieved so much in her short lifetime and carved a niche for herself in the Indian cinema. She was equally popular in the south as well and had given outstanding performances in movies that became superhits. 






Divya’s Funeral
 
      Bombay, Apr 7 (PTI): Divya Bharati, the youngest heroine of the silver screen
                  to meet an untimely death after
catapulting to fame and mass adulation in just two years witha string of hits in hindi films, was today cremated at
                  vileparle in north-west bombay.      
The actress slipped and fell
                  from the window-sill of herhusband's fifth floor flat at +tulsi apartments+ in versova,
early yesterday morning.
      
The funeral pyre was lit at 1215 hrs by her husbandSajid Nadiadwala,
                  film producer, at the vile parle crematorium
in the presence of about 500 people drawn from all sections ofthe
                  film industry, including Anil Kapoor, Amrish Puri, Raj Babbar, Yash Chopra, Jimmy Nirula, Sudhakar Bokade, MukeshDuggal, Raza
                  murad, Vikas Anand, Ram Mohan, Javed Khan, Raj Kanwar, Nitin Manmohan and Pehlaj Nehlani, maker of her first
hit, + shola aur shabnam+.
      
Sajid, who was discharged this morning from cooper hospital where
                  he had been admitted yesterday after he 
collapsed on hearing of Divya’s demise, fainted soon after
                  lighting the pyre. 
              
Earlier, Divya’s
                  body was handed over to her relatives by the coroner's court at cooper hospital at 0730 hrs and taken to +archana kutir+--the
                  juhu residence of her father Mr O P Bharati, who had suffered a mild heart attack yesterday.he was discharged from hospital
                  at 1030 hrs today.
A large number of film personalities, including Hema Malini, Karishma
                  Kapoor, Sangeeta Bijlani, Chandni, Manisha Koirala and Asha Parekh, offered condolences to the bereavedfamily members at their
                  residence.
 
The body was placed in an ambulance at 1130 hrs and followed by a convoy
                  of about 40 cars to the crematorium.
